Why teachers use The Adventures of Tidoi

Many beginner pupils lose motivation early on — not because the music is too difficult, but because it feels repetitive.

In The Adventures of Tidoi, each piece moves a story forward.
Students want to play the next piece because they want to know what happens next.

Teachers use the book to:

  • improve engagement

  • encourage more consistent practice

  • add variety without changing their core teaching approach

About the story

The story follows Tidoi, whose boat is attacked by Pink Beard and his pirate crew.
Marooned on a mysterious island, captured by the Wackowachi tribe, and rescued by Princess Starfeather, Tidoi must find a way to escape — and discover the island’s secret.

The narrative runs alongside the music, giving young learners a sense of adventure while they build confidence at the piano.

Teacher accompaniments and backing tracks

Every piece includes:

  • an optional teacher duet part

  • a matching backing track

These can be used to support rhythm, pulse, and musicality, helping early pieces feel more complete and rewarding for students.
